Hip Hop ya don't stop

So I've been substitute teaching hip hop at 9th east Golds gym a bit lately (I'm teaching again tomorrow night @ 8 in case anyone wants to come) Today Lindsay (the girl I sub for at Golds) texted me and asked if I would sub her advanced jazz class at Utah Academy for her, um are you serious? was my initial reaction, I'm not an advanced jazz dancer how am I supposed to teach an advanced jazz class? Lindsay assured me I could totally handle it, and I could teach them a hip hop combination if I wanted to. I told her I would do it. So the class ended up going quite well, I was really happy. The new owner of the studio, Aimee asked for my phone number and told me she would call me to sub there in the future. I really want to have my own hip hop class(s) at some point, so this is really good experience for me. The point of all this is I'm really really grateful to Lindsay for believing in me and providing me with these opportunities. She probably doesn't think it has been a big deal at all, but its a big deal to me. If she wouldn't have asked me to teach her class tonight, I wouldn't have met Aimee who asked me if I would sub there in the future. It just goes to show how one opportunity can lead to another opportunity. And sometimes it takes someone to believe in you for you to believe in yourself. So Lindsay if you read this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for me though out the years. I am a better dancer and now a better teacher because of you. You truly are a mentor and hero to me. So I hope to teach more and more. Dancing is a huge passion of mine and a huge part of my life, Its in my blood, its in my veins, its in my guts. I'm not the best dancer or dance teacher in the world, not even close. But ya know what it doesn't matter. All that matters is that I have a passion for dancing and it makes me happy, really happy.

Ashley that is great! I think it's great you've been teaching and subbing so much! And Aimee is the best...sweetest person ever. And Lindsay too, I grew up with them both and love them dearly. I would love to come take your hip hop class when you sub again, after this baby of course! I bet you are awesome and the students love you! So keep updating your blog and FB when you sub, so I can keep track of you! :)

Ash! That is awesome! You're such a talented dancer, I'm sure you're a great dance teacher. And if you cant think of any new choreography, you could always teach them that dance we made up in high school to Bon Jovi's You give love a bad name, or the Yo heave Ho song, or the police chase dance by Rocio. On second thought, I probably wouldn't.

I'm sure your so great! I'm glad you finally overcame your anxiety and nervousness about teaching. If we don't push ourselves outside our limits we will never reach our potential! I have been recently finding that out as well:) I'm so glad its working out for you!
